GATHER THE TOOLS (Nothing fancy)

FOLLOW THE RECIPE (Learn how it can work with any schedule)

PRACTICE (Keep baking & delicious bread will come – I PROMISE)

THE BEGINNING

I started my journey with a craving for warm, crusty bread smothered in butter. This was when I was pregnant with my third. Having toddler twins already made me feel like it was impossible to incorporate a baking routine, let alone keep a needy sourdough starter alive. But I kept reading, seeing all the gorgeous bread videos on Instagram, and could not shake the urge to see what this sourdough thing was about.

First, I tried to make my own starter from scratch. That was unsuccessful, and looking back I believe its because I gave up too soon.

Then, I realized I needed help. I bought a dehydrated starter and a beginner’s class to get me started. Success! My first loaf was not perfect, but it gave me just enough confidence to keep going.

I have been baking 2-8 loaves a week since.

SIMPLE IS BETTER

Eventually, I mustered the courage to make my own starter from scratch.

Having a mature, ready-to-bake starter makes the beginning stages of sourdough much more manageable. You can focus on the overall process and have the confidence you are already halfway there to delicious, sourdough bread.

My family is completely spoiled now, and what an honor to do so for them. Every night my twins ask for bread with their meal and my husband refuses to buy store bought bread. I gift loaves to friends and family for every kind of occasion.

The point is, that sourdough bread is not just a food staple in my home, but a source of joy. That is something I want others to experience in their own homes, and this is just the place to start.
